​Created by Kavya Puranam, a senior student at Adlai E. Stevenson High School in Buffalo Grove. She started Girl Scouts in 1st grade and has continued to learn about service and helping the community. When she became a senior Girl Scout, the Gold Award Project gave her a great opportunity to create lasting and sustainable change in her community. By educating those around her about eating local, learning to garden, and composting, she hopes people can make changes to their habits to support local farmers and decrease the pressure of carbon emissions on the environment.
